Why must Babylon be rebuilt?? What is its significance?

1.Isaiah 13 and 14 and Jeremiah 50 and 51 descibe the destruction of Babylon as 'the day of the Lord.'

A careful reading of these four chapters will reveal that the prophecies concerning the destruction of Babylon use the law of double reference; that is, they refer to two overthrows of Babylon. The first occurred in the 70th year of Israel's captivity. The second will occur on the day of Yahweh, that is, the seven-year Tribulation.

2. The prophecies of Jeremiah and Isaiah indicate that Babylon will be suddenly and totally obliterated.

"Babylon is suddenly fallen and destroyed" says the prophet in Jeremiah 51:8. And Isaiah 13:19 states, "And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldeans' excellency, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah"

A look at history reveals the city was never destroyed in the way these Hebrew prophets predicted it would be, which guarantees it must be rebuilt.

3.Isaiah 13:20 states that the ruins of Babylon are never to be inhabited

But Babylon was inhabited for much of ancient history even after the Medes and Persians conquered the Babylonian Empire.

No, in order for this prophecy to be fulfilled, Babylon must be rebuilt, then destroyed in a mighty display of God's righteous power.

4. An ancient rabbinic rule of interpretation says that when the Bible mentios an event twice, it means the event will happen twice

'Babylon has fallen, has fallen! All the images of its gods lie shattered on the ground!' " (Isaiah 21:9b)

A second angel followed and said, "Fallen! Fallen is Babylon the Great, which made all the nations drink the maddening wine of her adulteries." (Revelation 14:8)

Since the word 'fallen' is used twice in each of these passages, the rabbinic rule demands that the city fall twice. But if it is to fall again, it must first be rebuilt.

Maybe you might think, up till this moment after you've read all I've said above, that all of them is crap. -.- But before you jump to any conclusions, read the following article:

What I've been reiterating time and time again on my blog is 100% true. Christ is coming again. He will lift us up with the sound of his trumpet. The dead in Christ will rise first, followed by those who're still living(believers). Still not a believer? Do not procrastinate. HE will come anytime now. God bless you with a malleable heart~

Babylon, the future religious, commercial and governmental headquarter

Babylon is mentioned 280 times in the Bible- more than any city except Jerusalem. Today if you take a trip there to visit, all you'd see is ruins and ruins. However if you take a closer look, you'd realise that Saddam Hussein actually did something to this piece of 21 square mile ancient city. He was given 30 million dollars by an oil-rich citizen of Iraq to commence the rebuilding of the ancient city. When the Gulf War ended, Saddam wanted to build a modern palace over some old ruins; it was made in the pyramidal style of a Sumerian ziggurat. He named it Saddam Hill. In 2003, he was ready to begin the construction of a cable car line over Babylon when the invasion began and halted the project.

What has it gotta do with Bible Prophecy?

"In the time of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, nor will it be left to another people. It will crush all those kingdoms and bring them to an end, but it will itself endure forever. (Daniel 2:44)

God will establish a kingdom, not for a month, not for a year, not for a generation, but forever. It will crush all those kingdoms. What are those kingdoms? They're the ten kings who would loan their authority to one man, the antichrist, and the world will unite under them.

Revelations 17:12-14

The ten horns you saw are ten kings who have not yet received a kingdom, but who for one hour will receive authority as kings along with the beast. 13They have one purpose and will give their power and authority to the beast. 14They will make war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will overcome them because he is Lord of lords and King of kings—and with him will be his called, chosen and faithful followers.

Horn speaks of authority in the Bible.

This event is coming very close to our time. To know more, look out for my next post :D
